A Great Day Farm
At Joy Collaborative, we believe that beautiful, sensory-conscious spaces have the power to transform lives, especially for individuals with unique sensory and accessibility needs. Our newest Joy Room will be created at A Great Day Farm, a remarkable place where people with disabilities can connect with nature, build skills, and thrive through inclusive, adaptive experiences.

This project renovation includes a variety of functional improvements designed to enhance comfort, accessibility, and usability for all guests. Planned upgrades include proper acoustic treatment, space reconfiguration, new supply storage, and welcoming imagery, ensuring the Farm’s multi-functional space feels more supportive, calming, and inclusive.

This renovation is more than a facility update. It’s a partnership between Joy Collaborative, generous donors, skilled tradespeople, and committed community partners. Together, we are creating an environment that is both visually beautiful and intentionally designed to meet the sensory, safety, and accessibility needs of the Farm’s beloved community.
The Vision
The owners of A Great Day Farm are working toward a lasting legacy: a fully inclusive space open to the public. By combining the farm’s welcoming atmosphere with Joy Collaborative’s expertise in sensory-friendly design, this Joy Room will become a place of comfort, creativity, and connection for people of all abilities.

A key focus of this renovation is reimagining the large, open multi-purpose space by segmenting it into purposeful zones that support a wider range of interests and activities. This will allow the Farm to better accommodate different needs at the same time, creating a more functional, flexible environment for individuals who benefit from predictability, choice, and sensory balance.

With the help of Minnesota's chapter of ASID designers, Larson Building, Nor-Son Custom Home Building, and committed industry partners - including California Closets, Robinson Lighting, and Intersource Flooring, the project will include:

-
Acoustic upgrades to reduce echo and overwhelm
-
Improved lighting and sensory-friendly visual elements
-
Fresh paint and updated finishes
-
Enhanced storage and organization for programming supplies
-
Space reconfiguration to support multiple activity areas and interests
-
Adaptive features that improve comfort and accessibility
